A team of twenty one athletes travelled across to London on Sunday 16th February 2025 to take part in the Inter-Area competition at the impressive Lee Valley indoor athletics centre.
The event was made up of nine teams which included Scotland, Wales and the different areas of England. It was a packed day of track and field with many athletes doing multiple events to add to the team score. None more so than Karen Wilton, who competed in an amazing seven events and added 32 points to the team score.
There were wins for Ciara Burrows (shot put 8.24) and David Clarke (1500m 4:54.51). Karen Wilton was runner up in the 2000m walk (13:31.83) and there were third places for James Trainor (1500m 4:29.89), David Clarke (800m 2:25.35) and Lynsey Brown (60m Hurdles 10.98).
The team amassed a total of 181 points which far surpassed the previous best. It was enough to see them finish in eighth place, ahead of Scotland.
